|Big Radio News |A 25-year-old Machesney Park man who fled from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office at speeds of over 100 miles per hour takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.
According to online court records, Max Whitaker plead guilty Tuesday morning to second-degree recklessly endangering safety. Judge Derrick Grubb dismissed but read into the record an additional charge of fleeing an officer and sentenced Whitaker to three years of probation.
According to the criminal complaint, a Rock County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a van driven by Whitaker in the town of Beloit after observing it speeding and passing in a no passing zone.
The Deputy eventually ended the chase but tracked down Whitaker after noticing the logo for a Rockford business on the side of the van.
Whitaker admitted that he was the driver and that he fled because he was on probation. He turned himself in to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
