Evansville residents still digging out from under a major hailstorm last week will get a little helping hand from the city.
City Administrator Jason Sergeant says people whose water and lights were scheduled to be cut off this week will get a little more time to pay. Sergeant says that’s because more than 50 water meters were damaged, so staff are going door to door to make sure they are all in working order.
Sergeant says property maintenance and code enforcement operations will be suspended until May 15 to allow city staff to focus on processing the influx of building permits.
A dumpster is being placed in the public works garage parking lot for residents to discard large items that were damaged during the storm.
