If you get hot and thirsty watching the Beloit Sky Carp play baseball at ABC Supply Stadium, don’t sweat it. Just pop open an ice-cold Poopsie.
That’s the new beer on tap at the minor league ballpark. Its brewer, Duesterbeck’s Brewing Company, says it is a crisp brew named Poopsie’s Pale Ale — after the giant, hug-loving Canada goose who is the Sky Carp’s team mascot.
Duesterbeck’s owner Ben Johnson says his rural Elkhorn craft brewery has spent six years building a following and landing a distribution deal. Now, they’re adding the Poopsie-themed baseball brew.
Johnson says he and his spouse and business partner, Laura Johnson, always wanted to brew a ballpark beer. Their distributor works with the Sky Carp. That helped Duesterbeck’s land the stadium beer deal.
The Johnsons’ sons pitched in to create a Poopsie Pale Ale logo and custom beer taps in the likeness of Poopsie.
For now, you can only buy Poopsie’s Pale Ale in Beloit, at ABC Supply Stadium — or at a few downtown Beloit bars that plan to have the new brew on tap.
