Authorities say a Janesville police dog tracked down a registered sex-offender who tried to ditch his electronic ankle monitor he’s required to wear.

Janesville police say 39-year-old Bryan Kind is required to wear a GPS bracelet as a lifetime-status registered sex offender convicted of possessing child pornography.

Police say the Wisconsin Department of Corrections asked officers to locate Kind because they’d seen indications he was tampering with his GPS bracelet.

Police say they tracked Kind to the last location his ankle monitor pinged, near downtown Janesville. During a search, police learned Kind had torn off the GPS bracelet. Kind was not far away.

Janesville officers unleashed Viktos, one of the department’s police dogs. Viktos tracked Kind to the 600 block of North Parker Drive. That is where the police dog flushed Kind out of some tall grass he was trying to hide in.

Kind tried to run, but Viktos chased him down and subdued him. Kind was arrested on parole violation, tampering with GPS and resisting an officer.
