The Janesville City Council rings in two new members, and names a new council president. But it did not come with full consensus.
Tuesday morning, the council voted 4-3 to seat Aaron Burdick as the council’s new President. He replaces outgoing council President David Marshick, who did not seek another term on the council.
Burdick has previously served as the council’s Vice President. Now Larry Squire gets the nod as the council’s new V.P., also on a 4-3 vote.
Also Tuesday, the council seated its two newly elected members, Josh Erdman and Michael Cass.
Marshick and outgoing city council member Michael Jackson were honored Monday night before the council entered a weighty, three-hour-long closed session.
The council’s closed-door discussions dealt with the city’s emerging, $3.5-million bid to buy the former General Motors site, plus a performance review for City Manager Kevin Lahner.
