Rock County Sheriff’s Office negotiators are called into action early Saturday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call on State Line Road in the town of Clinton at 4 a.m. Saturday.

When authorities arrived, the victim had left but they believed the suspect was still at the home. When deputies were unable to contact him, they set up a perimeter and called in the SWAT and negotiation teams.

Negotiators convinced Zachary P. Cervantes to surrender, and he was arrested on pending charges of disorderly conduct, battery, and strangulation and suffocation, all with domestic violence enhancers.

Cervantes is scheduled for a court appearance Monday afternoon.
