An Evansville family says they’re raising money for funeral costs for a 14-year-old girl they say was shot dead on Sunday.
A Go-Fund-Me account has been set up for 14-year-old Florencia Henthorn, whose family says died Sunday. The Go-Fund-Me calls Henthorn a “victim of gun violence.”
The Go-Fund-Me says “Please consider donating to help her family lay her to rest. No parent should ever have to plan their child’s funeral — or worry about how to pay for it.”
As of Tuesday morning, the Go-Fund-Me had raised $5,450 on the way to a $10,000 goal.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says it has taken the lead in an investigation of the death. Otherwise, police have not identified the person killed, and they have not given details in the shooting — nor has the sheriff’s office responded to Big Radio inquiries on whether the fatal shooting is being considered foul play, whether there is a suspect in the death, and whether anyone is in custody.
Police also have not explained why the sheriff’s office took the lead investigating an Evansville shooting.
Police say there appears to be no danger to the community.
The shooting was reported in the 300 block of South Madison Street at about 9 a.m. Sunday.
Big Radio will bring more details as we learn them.
