Here’s an opportunity for Janesville residents to engage with city government.

City Hall is partnering with survey company Polco to conduct the standardized National Community Survey to gauge residents’ opinions on several aspects of living in Janesville, such as the economy, community design, utilities, safety and more.

Assistant to the city manager Nick Faust says the survey is intended to generate statistically significant results every two years. It will allow city officials to compare survey results from Janesville over time and to compare local results to peer communities nationwide.

Random households will be mailed invitations to take the survey. Households that don’t receive a mailer will have the opportunity to answer a questionnaire later in the month.

The city and Polco will produce a report after analyzing the results of the survey, and Faust says that report will be presented to the city council in May.
