The 27-year-old Janesville man accused of stealing a vehicle with a toddler inside last December and then abandoning the child on the side of the road in freezing weather appears ready to face the music.

According to online court records, Kristopher Klein is scheduled for a plea and sentencing hearing before Rock County Judge Barbara McCrory on May 2nd.

Klein is charged with taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, abduction of a child, abandonment of a child, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, fleeing an officer and three counts of bail jumping.

Prosecutors say after abandoning the two-year-old on the side of the road, Klein continued driving until police used stop sticks and a PIT maneuver to disable the stolen vehicle he was driving.

23-year-old Neanni Bowman of Beloit who police say came along for the ride, is facing similar charges as Klein. She is scheduled for a plea and sentencing on Friday.
