Milton has a new mayor and two new city council members.
Eric Stockman, who has been on the council, ran unopposed to succeed Anissa Welch as mayor of Milton, who was in office for a decade.
Stockman still had a year left on his term as a council member. City policy dictates the council can appoint an eligible replacement for Stockman’s council seat.
Also in voting Tuesday, incumbent council member Sharla Walker held onto her seat, garnering 24.4% of the vote. Newcomer Derek Henze, who has organized the city’s Fourth of July celebration since at least 2020, won the biggest share of the vote among the four candidates, pulling in 27.5% to win a council seat.
In past years, Henze’s nonprofit has requested funding from the city budget and city resources such as police security and traffic control to put on the holiday celebration.
Molly Budlong will be the second new addition to the council after she won 24.7% of the vote.
