A number of fire hydrants in Janesville are getting a fresh paint job.

Water Utility Superintendent Craig Thiesenhusen says the city has hired a contractor to paint around 244 fire hydrants citywide.

The fire hydrant will be cleaned down to metal, then sprayed with white epoxy primer, and repainted with a fresh coat of yellow paint.  The process is expected to take about two to three weeks, depending on weather.
