Twelve fire departments respond to an apartment fire on the west side of Beloit.
The call to the Rock County Communications Center came in at 1:36 p.m. Saturday, and the first arriving units from the City of Beloit Fire Department activated the mutual aid alarm system, summoning assistance from both sides of the state line.
Janesville, South Beloit, Edgerton and the North Park Fire Protection District, based in Machesney Park, responded to the mutual aid call, among several others.
Video of the fire posted online showed flames consuming a large section of the second floor of an apartment building at 1926 Cleora Drive, near the Woodman’s Food Market in Beloit.
The communications center says the Red Cross has been notified. It’s not yet known if anyone was hurt or what the full extent of the damage is. Crews were still on scene as of 4 p.m. Saturday.
The fire comes about 16 hours after a multialarm fire in downtown Monroe pulled some Rock County crews into the response on Friday night.
