A 29-year-old Janesville man is sentenced to 35 years in prison for recording himself sexually assaulting a seven-year-old.
The Rock County District Attorney’s Office says Nelson Curtis-Hunter plead guilty Friday morning to repeated sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography. Eight additional charges including possession of child pornography, child enticement, and exposing a child to harmful material were dismissed but read into the record.
Rock County Judge Karl Hanson sentenced Curtis-Hunter to 35 years in prison followed by 15 years of extended supervision. He must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The case against Curtis-Hunter started in 2023 when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent several tips to the Janesville Police Department about child pornography.
Police found that not only had Curtis-Hunter been downloading child sexual assault materials but he had numerous videos on his phone of himself sexually assaulting a young child.
