Janesville Police Department Lieutenant Jennifer Seeger has become the first woman on Janesville’s police force to get accepted into the FBI’s National Academy.
The Janesville PD says Seeger left this week for Quanico, Virginia for the academy.
She’s off to the FBI’s National Academy for a 10-week, intensive law enforcement training course in intelligence theory, terrorism psychology, management, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science.
The FBI selects police officers from around the U.S. to attend its National Academy. Officers are vetted and chosen based on leadership abilities they’ve shown.
Seeger leads Janesville’s police detective bureau.
Janesville PD officials call the FBI’s selection of Seeger a “historic” moment for the department because Seeger is the department’s first female to earn a spot at the FBI’S academy.
Seeger returns to Janesville for police duty in mid-June.
