The city of Milton’s revamp of its decades-old zoning ordinance is wrapping up soon.

City officials hosted the public at City Hall on Tuesday night to address questions and take feedback on the plan.

City Administrator Paul Hensch says comments from residents collected from the meeting will be considered when finalizing the zoning code document and ordinance.

Hensch says the city is trying to modernize its approach to zoning. Some changes in the plan include more mixed-use zoning and splitting single- and two-family residential zoning into two zone types for different levels of density.

The end result, city officials hope, will be enhanced sustainability and walkability, a bolstered housing stock and better housing affordability thanks an increase in supply.

Hensch says the new zoning code will only affect new construction and land-use changes after the city council approves the code. That approval could come next month.
