A rural Beloit man is arrested in Walworth County on suspicion of child sex crimes.

Town of Geneva police arrested Cody A. Hubanks, 33, Tuesday morning. Police say Hubanks began messaging who he thought was a 14-year-old girl on Facebook last week and sending inappropriate messages and photos of himself.

He traveled to Walworth County for a supposed in-person meeting but was arrested during a traffic stop in the township and taken to the county jail in Elkhorn.

Town of Geneva Police Chief Anthony Miceli says his department has an officer trained in conducting online child sex crime investigations.

Pending charges against Hubanks include using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and causing a child older than 13 to view or listen to sexual activity.

According to online court records, Hubanks served jail time after he was found guilty of having sex with a child 16 or older in 2018. He was 26 at the time.
