A search is underway for a Beloit sex offender who was deported in 2018. Prosecutors say agents with the U.S. Department of Justice spoke with Beloit police on March 12 about an investigation involving Manuel Lopez Garcia, 36.
The agent stated on March 5, they determined that Lopez Garcia had a listed address in Fort Atkinson but that he wasn’t living there. The agent also said that Lopez Garcia is a registered sex offender and is listed as being non-compliant with the Wisconsin State Sex Offender Registry since he was deported in 2018.
Lopez Garcia continued to be non-compliant after being arrested on Feb. 19 by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office for an OWI. He was convicted of third-degree sexual assault in September 2015 in Rock County Court. An arrest warrant has been issued for Lopez Garcia, who is charged with failure to register on the sex offender registry.
