Five million gallons of water may seem like a lot, but it’s just a drop in the bucket for the Rock River.

Rock County Park’s Department crews are busy siphoning that much H2O out of the local waterway and pumping it into the pond at Rock River Heritage Park.

Parks Manager John Traynor says when the property was acquired from the Boy Scouts the pond was about 10 feet low. It’s supposed to be close to 30 feet deep.

Traynor says the County worked with the DNR to obtain the proper permits to take water from the Rock River. The pond is already up several feet from last week.
