Janesville’s Flannelfest has sprouted some street cred around the Midwest
Organizers say the craft beer and flannel clothing-centered festival on Janesville’s downtown riverfront hauled in $1,500 ticket buyers Feb 22nd, a sell out in the event’s sixth year.
Flannelfest organizer and Downtown Janesville Inc. Director Elaina Szyjewksi says a growing faction of the beer fest’s attendees are people visiting from out of town.
She says there’s been a rise in the number of Flannelfest tickets sold to people from communities throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa.
The festival has also garnered enough interest that it’s now drawing offers by out-of-state craft brewers who want in on Janesville’s annual break-in-the-weather party.
Szyjewksi says the rise in out-of-state visitors and brewers is tied in part to marketing.
Last year, the festival landed a state tourism grant to tout Flannelfest regionally. She says the challenge is to continue luring local attendants and local brewers.
