A 49-year-old Beloit man accused of crashing his vehicle into parked cars while high on cocaine in 2018, severely injuring a passenger, takes a plea deal in Rock County Court.

Luis Garduno Esparza made his initial appearance in Rock County Court in October, more than six years after he was charged with OWI causing injury and operating with a restricted controlled substance third offense.

According to online court records Garduno Esparza plead guilty last week to the OWI causing injury charge. Judge John Wood dismissed but read into the record the operating with a restricted controlled substance charge.

Judge Wood sentenced Garduno Esparza to three years of probation and a year in the Rock County Jail.

Garduno Esparza was arrested after a Rock County Sheriff’s deputy found him walking down the middle of a highway, drunk, having just left a strip club.
