Local Democrats will host listening sessions on the state budget in the coming weeks.
Assembly Rep. Clinton Anderson and state Sen. Mark Spreitzer, both of Beloit, will talk about Gov. Tony Evers’ biennial budget proposal at Creekside Place in Evansville from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, and at the Beloit Public Library from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3.
The legislators say the governor’s budget will lower costs for Wisconsin families, provide tax relief for working people, and help kids stay safe and get a quality education.
Evers’ proposed budget is not likely to receive a vote in the Legislature with Republicans in charge of both the Assembly and the state Senate.
In the last two budget cycles, Republicans developed their own budgets that they sent to Evers, who then exercised his partial veto authority to alter what he could before signing them into law.
