Good news from the state Department of Public Instruction on the statewide high school graduation rate.

DPI says 91.1% of students graduated on time for the 2023-24 school year. That’s the highest it’s been since 2009-10, the year the state introduced its current calculation method.

Of the 10 school districts that cover significant areas of Rock County, all but three beat the statewide percentage. Those were Beloit at 82.9%, Whitewater Unified at 90% and Janesville at 90.7%.

The Parkview School District boasted the best graduation rate at 98.5% with Beloit Turner next at 97.1%.

Milton, Clinton Community, Edgerton, Evansville and Brodhead all beat the state average by at least 1.8 percentage points. Small, rural portions of the Albany, Delavan-Darien and Stoughton school districts also reach into Rock County. All those districts also beat the statewide graduation rate.
