The Civil War will be the topic of this month’s Hops and History fundraiser for the Milton House.

The March program will feature Doug Dammann, the curator of the Kenosha Civil War Museum, at the Goodworks Brewing Company at 237 Parkview Drive in Milton at 1 p.m. Sunday. The brewery will be selling craft beers and other drinks during the event.

Dammann’s presentation will focus on Civil War soldiers from the upper Midwest and feature artifacts that help tell those soldiers’ stories.

Keighton Klos, the Milton House’s executive director, says that even though southern Wisconsin wasn’t the site of any Civil War battles, the war still affected the people who lived here. She says hundreds of men affiliated with Milton College enlisted to fight in the Union army and that local soldiers did take part in some of the war’s most famous battles, like Gettysburg and Antietam.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at miltonhouse.org.
