Rock County prosecutors say a Janesville boxer who recently made his professional debut was involved in an armed robbery over the weekend.
Lucas Labuguen, 19, is charged with armed robbery as party to the crime after prosecutors say Jesus Garcia, 20, stole a victim’s wallet at gunpoint.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim had arranged to sell a cellphone over Snapchat. He met Labuguen in a parking lot on North Lexington Drive at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday and they agreed on a price for the phone. Labuguen went back to the car he was in, and Garcia held a gun to the victim’s head and took his wallet from his pants pocket.
Garcia and Labuguen drove away in a black Toyota Prius, and the victim was able to take photos with his phone of the car and the people in it.
Police stopped the car on the Interstate and interviewed the suspects. Garcia was wearing the same hoodie as the suspect in the photograph but denied it was him. Labuguen told police he did nothing wrong.
Both men are being held on $25,000 cash bonds.
Labuguen made his professional boxing debut on Feb. 22 on a fight card in Janesville. He won his bout in a first-round knockout.
