The Janesville City Council approves a $138,000 purchase price for a small parcel on land adjacent to the former General Motors assembly plant property that’s NOT owned by Commercial Development Company.
The Council deliberated in closed session Monday night before voting unanimously on the price for the sliver of land at 1212 South Jackson Street next to Zoxx Social Club.
According to Zillow, the property last sold in 2019 for $30,000. It’s currently vacant except for a garage.
It’s unclear what discussion the City Council had or when they could vote on a purchase price for the remaining half-dozen properties that make up the 250 acre former GM property and the adjacent JATCO haul away yard.
The city aims to acquire the property to clean up contamination at the GM assembly plant parcel, and to launch plans to convert part of the former JATCO to park space and residential.
