
The 23-year-old former UW-Whitewater wrestler accused of killing former Warhawks gymnast Kara Welsh appears headed to trial.
According to online court records, Chad Richards appeared in Walworth County Court Tuesday for a motion hearing.
Judge Estee Scholtz scheduled a seven day jury trial which will begin on December 15th of 2025.
Richards is accused of shooting Welsh multiple times and killing her in the heat of an argument at an apartment in downtown Whitewater.
He told police he took the gun from Welsh and fired out of fear for his life.
Richards is currently being held in the Walworth County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
