A violent encounter where two men were held at gunpoint and threatened with large dogs blows the lid on a human trafficking case in Beloit.

Beloit Police announced this week that 60-year-old Charles Anthony Bell is facing more than two dozen charges in Rock County Court including human trafficking, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment, and mistreating animals.

According to the criminal complaint, Bell moved into a home in Beloit in November and started forcing the person who lived there to have sex with “johns” for money by coercing them with drugs and threatening them with violence.

The victim told police on January 26th two men came by the home. Bell told her one of them owed him money for drugs and the other would be a new “john.”

When the two didn’t have any money Bell pulled out a gun and threatened them. He also chained three dogs in front of the door so they were afraid to leave.

Eventually the two men escaped and contacted police, which led investigators to the home where the victim was being held.

Bell is currently being held in the Rock County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond. He’s due back in Rock County Court for his preliminary hearing on February 25th.
