A Rock County jury is convicting a man of severely beating his elderly ex-wife in Janesville more than six years after the crime took place. The jury found 52-year-old Dwayne Goodrich guilty of aggravated battery, plus obstructing and disorderly conduct late Tuesday. The Rock County District Attorney’s Office says in November 2018, Goodrich, who was 46 at the time, lived with his then-wife, who was 72. The two were arguing when Goodrich began strangling her and threw her to the ground. The victim stabbed Goodrich in the shoulder with a pair of scissors and locked herself in a room.
Goodrich found a key and attacked the victim again, knocking her to the ground and stomping on her face while wearing boots. The victim suffered serous injuries and Goodrich was arrested on multiple charges. He posted bail, but disappeared before the trial started. Goodrich was finally located in Minnesota in 2024. The case was first tried in October, but it ended in a mistrial. Goodrich will be sentenced on May 1st.
