Communities in the state line start to pull the trigger on a snow emergency, setting the stage for full plow operations. That’s as we prepare for what forecasters say could be 10 inches of snow.

This morning, the cities of Evansville and South Beloit both pulled the trigger on municipal snow emergencies.

Evansville’s emergency runs from 6 a.m. Wednesday through 11 a.m. Thursday. South Beloit’s emergency runs almost a full 24 hours, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Both municipalities require vehicles to be moved off the street. South Beloit officials also ask residents to remove their garbage and recycling cans from the curb.

Forecasters are calling for the area’s biggest snow so far this winter — 6 inches to 10 inches over a 24-hour span Wednesday through Thursday.

The National Weather Service says snowfall is expected all day Wednesday, with heaviest snows expected midday through evening.

The early prediction is that could mean a tricky evening commute Wednesday afternoon.

Big Radio will bring you more news on this predicted winter storm throughout the day.
