Newly received grant funding is helping the University of Wisconsin Whitewater generate what at least one professor hopes is transformative technology.  Associate professor of chemistry Steven Girard says the 175-thousand-dollar Universities of Wisconsin Innovation Grant is helping them develop coating called silicides.  Girard’s research looks to build technology that would produce better, more cost-effective coatings for superalloys used in aerospace, as well as for medical implants.  He believes the grant will also provide more opportunities for undergraduates to perform meaningful research and possibly create jobs.
