City of Janesville crews gear up for what could be an overnight mess of ice and snow.
As forecasters call for up to two inches of ice overnight and into Thursday, the city has declared a winter weather emergency.
Under the declaration, the city’s public works department plan for a full plow operation. That means residents are required to move their vehicles off the street until the city lifts plow operations.
Fines for violations are $50.
It’s the first weather emergency the city has declared this winter. The city plans for plow crews to handle both snow and ice control.
The emergency runs from 4 p.m. Wednesday to 7 a.m. Thursday.
The city says motorists should be on the lookout for plow trucks tonight as they tackle continuous clearing of major arterial streets and bridges.-
