A series of information sessions are being held to discuss the upcoming police and fire referendum on the City of Whitewater’s April 1 ballot.
Voters will decide whether to increase the city’s annual tax levy in order to fund additional full-time personnel to its police and fire departments.
Whitewater Police Chief Dan Meyer says the police department’s call volume from 2010 to 2024 has increased 90%, adding that if the referendum doesn’t pass, there will have to be changes department operations. The sessions are being held Feb. 18 and March 11 at the Whitewater Municipal Building, March 13 at the Whitewater Senior Center, and March 17 at the Whitewater University Innovation Center.
