A homeless man faces charges accusing him of breaking a main entrance door window at the UW Cancer Center in Beloit and starting a fire in the parking lot last week.  Prosecutors say Beloit Police were called out January 16th to the Home 2 Suites on Cranston Road in Beloit, where they made contact with Douglas Richard Green.  Green, who had blue pen on his face, told an officer he damaged property at a cancer center and started a fire in an attempt to harm himself.  Another officer went to the UW Cancer Center and spotted burnt pieces of garbage in the parking lot.  The officer approached the main entrance doors and noticed the window was broken.  She also observed a brick broken into pieces on the ground.
An employee stated that they believe the broken window would cost around 10-thousand-dollars to repair.  Green is charged with felony criminal damage to property and negligent handling of burning material.
