Prosecutors say a Janesville woman ran a “house of horrors,” where she and her husband lived in squalor while sexually assaulting their children.
Back in November 53-year-old Kelly Markham plead guilty to a single count of second-degree sexual of a child.
Judge Ashley Morse dismissed but read in additional charges of failure to act in the sexual assault of a child, two counts of child enticement, incest, and two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.
In Rock County Court Wednesday morning Judge Morse sentenced Markham to 20 years in prison – the maximum penalty for the charge.
Prosecutors say Markham not only watched while her husband sexually assaulted her children and a grand child, but she also participated in the abuse herself.
Markham’s husband Spencer is currently serving a 30-year sentence for repeated sexual assault of a child. Their 27-year-old son Cody Markham is also charged with repeated sexual assault of a child and incest.
