Janesville teenager gets probation in stabbing case

A Rock County Judge orders probation for a Janesville teenager who stabbed his half brother in defense of their mother.

According to online court records Tuesday morning 18-year-old Ryder Sanborn plead guilty to first-degree reckless injury and no contest to disorderly conduct and battery with use of a dangerous weapon.

Judge Jeffrey Kuglitsch held open his finding of guilt on the reckless injury charge as part of a felony hold open agreement, but found him guilty of the other two charges.

Sanborn was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim attacked his mother after she tried to prevent him from taking a laptop. Sanborn and his two juvenile brothers came to her defense, with Sanborn stabbing the victim twice in the chest.
