A Rock County official gives more details about one of its finalists for the county administrator post.

In an email Wednesday, Human Resources Director Amy Spoden tells Big Radio that finalist John Light currently works for contract HR consultant MGT/GOV HR as an interim township administrator. Light is a Woodstock, Illinois resident.

The county issued a short bio on the three finalists earlier this week. It gave recent employment history for two of the finalists, Rock County Planning and Land Conservation Manager Andrew Baker and Walworth County Public Works chief Richard Hough.

However, the county did not initially disclose specific employment information on Light in that same bio, saying only that Light has worked in administrative roles for various cities, counties, and towns — but not where, or when.

Big Radio had pressed Rock County officials to supply more information on Light’s professional background.

Light is a former Human Resources director for Lake County, Illinois. That’s a suburban county in Chicagoland with a population of about 700,000.

The county plans a public meet-and-greet of the candidates January 27.
